This book is a collection of over 50 guitar solos by Spanish and Latin American composers of the late 19th and early 20th century, many of whom have remained little known since their first publications from over 100 years ago or more. It is an enjoyable and valuable resource containing repertoire that has been carefully selected to not only introduce students at this level to some of the stimulating musical styles of the genre but to also contribute to specific aspects of musical development e.g. building confidence with reading notation in higher positions of the fretboard; and learning ‘new’ rhythmic and melodic elements that are characteristic of the style.
