How to Play Guitar – Beginner Methods, Solo and Ensemble Repertoire, Sheet Music, and Essential Technique

After early formative years of music tuition studying violin, flute, and piano, Peter began learning classical guitar with Dutch guitarist and teacher Ad Van Beers. With the offer of a scholarship to Sydney Conservatorium of Music, he began full-time studies with acclaimed Spanish guitarist Antonio Losada (a distinguished pupil of Andres Segovia). He later continued further study in Spain with guitar masters Narciso Yepes and Jose Tomas and then began a professional music career with a variety of concert, recording, and teaching activities in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

His professional activities have taken the classical guitar into a wide range of arts mediums including chamber music, musical theatre, drama, ballet, and visual arts productions. He has also worked in the studio session field in various musical styles, as well as completing arranging and composition commissions for radio, television, and independent film productions.

He has held Lecturer positions at the Universities of NSW, ECU,Churchlands CAE, and given master classes as a visiting artist at various tertiary institutions. In recent years he has been a Senior Instrumental Teacher with the WA Dept. of Education, has acted as an advisor and consultant for the state Curriculum Council, and been a guitar examiner for the AMEB in Western Australia.

He has been a featured artist in articles published by various industry periodicals: The Australian Guitar Journal, Music Teacher Magazine, and Guitar International (UK).

Peter performs and records on guitars by renowned luthiers Ramirez, Marty, Godin, Takemine, and Taylor.
